We know traveling and providing your children with new experiences has been difficult lately. Instead, our friends at the European Union are bringing Europe to the Washington, D.C. area! Starting on October 9, Kids Euro Fest will offer in-person and virtual content for kids of all ages.

Where and When to Go

On Saturday, October 9, the EU is hosting the first of two in-person Family Days located around Washington. From 12-4 PM at the Embassy of France (4101 Reservoir Rd, NW Washington, DC 20007), kids can learn from a Latvian children’s book illustrator, catch an Irish dance performance, and make Portuguese art. A German theatre will transport young minds into a fairy tale and France will get kids thinking about climate change.

Then on Saturday, October 16, families are invited to the scenic waterfront location of the Embassy of Sweden from 12-4 pm (2900 K St NW, Washington, DC 20007). There, they can enjoy music lessons with Dutch jazz artists, a Swedish performer on stilts, and learning to paint with the Austrians. You can catch lively Irish jigs and reels on this day, as well.

The best part? It’s all free!

Of course, health and safety is the first priority. COVID-19 health and safety precautions will be in place at both Family Days, including masks for kids ages 2-12. Activities will happen both indoors and outdoors with social distancing and limited attendance; therefore, please consider registering ahead of time on the KEF website. Street parking and paid garages are available. There is no metro accessibility, but the D6 bus from Dupont Circle takes you to the French Embassy.

And if you can’t participate in person or live outside the D.C. area? Do not fret – Kids Euro
Fest will also offer special virtual content starting October 9. These include online performances, storytelling, films, and workshops.
