The Top Boxing Gyms in the DMV

As a stay at home mom, I have tried to look for ways to fill my day with activities that make me happy. One of those activities I truly enjoy is exercising at boxing gyms. I began boxing about two years ago as a way to increase body strength and decrease stress. As an avid Peloton rider, I was excited to find out about the boxing component added to the streaming platform. I took a few of the classes before heading to a boxing gym, primarily to make sure I understood some of the aspects of boxing. What I learned was that boxing is a WHOLE BODY WORKOUT filled with punches, defensive moves, and tons of footwork.

Some benefits of boxing are:

  • Works on balance and coordination
  • Builds strong bones and joints
  • Creates toned and lean muscles
  • Relieves stress
  • Improves confidence

This practice has not only become a way to improve my physical fitness but a meditative state that has helped me focus on breathing while challenging both my mind and body. Most importantly, I have found it to be a safe and healthy way to destress and exercise.
