Being a parent is one of the toughest jobs that anyone can have. So much is at stake, especially these days with so much deprivation, isolation, and loss. There are a lot of tough decisions that we have to make as parents to keep our children healthy, secure, well-adjusted, thriving, and on track. At times we get conflicting information from friends, family, and the internet, and it’s not really clear which way to proceed. As parents themselves, our clinicians empathize with the struggles that come with raising children, and we know that there is no one-size-fits-all approach.
At Kentlands Psychotherapy, we offer a variety of services for both parents and their children. Our therapists are here to support you on your parenting journey and help you navigate your family’s unique challenges. Our clinicians, who specialize in parent counseling and coaching, can address your parenting challenges and concerns by helping you build your parenting skills and confidence, develop routines and strategies that work for your family. Our child, adolescent, and young adult therapists specialize in working with our littlest, preschool-aged clients (2+ years) through high school and college-aged family members. We offer a breadth of approaches to helping children and parents, including play therapy, parent-child interaction therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and executive skills coaching. In addition, we offer psychological and psychoeducational assessments for children and adolescents. These assessments can be helpful in providing additional information about current functioning, strengths, and needs, diagnosing or ruling out suspected disabilities, and making recommendations for the family. We also offer co-parenting counseling post-divorce coaching, and support for separated or unmarried parents. Successful co-parenting helps to ensure children are receiving the support that they need to thrive.
