A note about The Therapy Center for Pregnancy Loss by Rayna D. Markin, PhD.

The Therapy Center for Pregnancy Loss, L.L.C. by Rayna D. Markin, PhD provides compassionate, personalized, and research-driven psychotherapy for individuals and couples coping with the devastating loss of a pregnancy or unborn baby. Dr. Markin’s approach to treatment is to use empathy, normalization, and validation to help women and couples mourn their losses, process the trauma or horror around the loss(es), and to reduce feelings of shame and inadequacy often experienced after pregnancy loss. She focuses on building a relationship with each patient in which it feels safe to experience and work through overwhelming and painful emotions, and on relationship difficulties in feeling supported and understood that often arise after pregnancy loss.

Dr. Markin is also an associate professor in counseling with an active program of research, and author of the new book, Psychotherapy for Pregnancy Loss: Applying Relationship Science to Clinical Practice. Her unique emotion-focused and relational approach to therapy for pregnancy loss has been featured in the APA live therapy demonstration video, Pregnancy Loss. She offers in-person services at her Gaithersburg location and telehealth appointments, as well as clinical consultation and training for other professionals.
