I’m Amanda, and I love all things related to tiny people!

After years of brainstorming ideas, researching, blogging, reading, and connecting with other experts, I want to share all of this information with parents and educators everywhere!

Years of working with children and adults have helped me gain a wide-encompassing view of how people seek, attain, and use knowledge. There is no one right way to parent or educate, just as there is no one right way to learn.

Twofold:
First is working directly with young children and their adults. By providing live classes and playgroups, I can help connect adults to their children by modeling fun, interactive ways to engage together. Using music and movement together helps adults feel less inhibited during these experiences, allowing children to form bonds with their caregivers.

The second is working to build capacity in adults. Parents, educators, and related professionals have incredible, long-lasting effects on young children. By building capacity through workshops and professional development trainings, attendees can bring new knowledge to all of their future interactions. I provide current research and evidence-based information in easy-to-understand sessions, allowing attendees to implement their new knowledge immediately.

I offer pregnancy and postpartum coaching to help expecting and new parents plan for, and achieve their postpartum goals. From walking through exactly what you’ll need to do postpartum (did you know you have to order copies of the birth certificate?) to setting intentions and goals about balance and returning to work, I provide support and guidance to help you get where you want to go.

We recognize the fact that children often lose many of the skills that they have gained during the school year. To help prevent this “summer slide,” two veteran pre-school teachers, Monica Brewer and Valerie Valentine  have teamed up to provide supplemental online instruction for 3-5 year olds beginning this July.  We team up with your child to supplement reading and math skills in one of two formats:

·       30-minute individual sessions

·       45-minute group sessions (no more than 4 children per group).

Sessions are run online between 9am – 1pm Monday to Thursday on a secure Zoom channel. (For parents of children scheduled to attend Camp Berry, arrangements have been made to accommodate these sessions during camp.)

Cost:

·       Individual Sessions: $35 per session.

·       Group Sessions: $25 per child per session.

While parents are free to choose the number of sessions that they would like to use, we recommend two sessions per week.

The Thrifty Teacher is a new company to the DMV and are leading guided painting classes with 1.5 hours of creative fun for children ages 6-12! Live sessions are hosted on Zoom, and include materials provided in advance. Two live time slots are available to choose from: 12:00-1:30 and 4:00-5:30, Monday through Friday. Sessions can be purchased for the whole week or by single session.

During the class, live instruction will be led by a licensed elementary school teacher, with story time as “drying breaks”.

Prenatal Yoga is designed especially for the expecting mother. This form of yoga is tailored to meet the ever-changing needs of women in all stages of pregnancy. This practice provides a safe space for expecting mothers to move, breathe, and connect with their babe and others who are expecting. This class is appropriate for all experience levels. Class will feature breathing techniques, opening the hips, pelvic floor exercises, guided meditation, improved circulation, preparing the body for birth, and an extended savasana (resting pose).
