Anacostia Watershed Society’s Saturday Environmental Academy

Calling ALL Middle School Students in the Anacostia Watershed! The Anacostia Watershed Society’s Saturday Environmental Academy is accepting applications for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to join our FREE environmental education, outdoor fall program! The program will run on Saturdays from October 4 – November 8, 2025. We meet in front of Shirley Chisholm Elementary School in D.C. Drop-off and pick-up are promptly at 9 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. respectively. The academic year theme is “Healthy Watershed, Healthy You!” and will include participating in a meditative boat tour on the Anacostia River, planting native trees at a local park, doing a forest bathing session at a local greenspace, participating in an art therapy and wetland exploration session, and more! Applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis, until all spots are filled, and up until the start date of Oct. 4. Apply, or encourage others to apply A.S.A.P. to secure a spot.
