Bright Horizons® Early Education and Preschool centers are open and enrolling throughout the DC area. At Bright Horizons, your child’s health and safety is our top priority. Our standards are the highest in the industry, meeting or exceeding local, state, and national guidelines. Our enhanced health and safety protocols were developed in partnership with pediatric infectious disease specialist Dr. Kristin Moffitt of Boston Children’s Hospital, and align with CDC guidelines. Some of the practices that you will find at a Bright Horizons center are

  • Daily health screenings
  • Consistent groupings
  • Drop-off and pick-up in a central location
  • Face coverings required for all center staff
  • Restricted visitor access
  • A curriculum that emphasizes healthy practices for children

These enhanced protocols are in addition to the things that have always made Bright Horizons a special place for childhood. Our research-informed curriculum is designed to inspire children not just to learn, but to think, wonder, and question on their own. And Bright Horizons’ teachers are the heart of our programs. They are professionals with the skills to focus on and develop children’s unique interests. Our educators have access to continual training and professional development, including the opportunity to earn a degree in early childhood education for free through the Horizons Teacher Degree Program

We’re here for you too! Families have access to learning at home activities, webinars, virtual events, and family partnership group meetings, and our mobile app helps keep you connected throughout the day. Our goal is to have a full partnership with families, even if that looks a little different now than it did before.

In the month of February, many centers are giving you the opportunity to learn more at a virtual Family Information Session. Our leadership teams will share center-specific information about educational programs, classrooms, teachers, and health and safety protocols. Find a center event near you by visiting the event page.

Also, we’re happy to announce a brand new Bright Horizons is opening this spring! Learn more about Bright Horizons at National Landing by visiting their website and their Facebook page.

Courtney Whittington
Courtney was born and raised in Louisiana where she met her husband (married in 2005). They have moved several times, but finally feel very settled in NW DC after moving back in 2016. She has four energetic kids: Cormac (2010), Evangeline (2013), Solomon (2016), and Antoinette (2019). She thinks motherhood is absolutely wonderful, but is constantly trying to figure out how to manage it all. She spends her days talking Star Wars, playing with legos, doing crafts, having tea parties, and chasing her toddler. Motherhood is wonderful and wild and in 2017 she banded together with other mothers to start DC Area Moms to inspire, learn, and grow together. She loves morning coffee, chocolate, chatting with people since she's an extrovert, a clean house (which is rare these days). She dislikes when her kids don't listen the first time, she abhors littering, and doesn't enjoy shopping.
