An Attitude of Gratitude

0

We may not have control of everything or anything in our lives. We do know that we have control of our attitude towards everything in life. How about having an “attitude of gratitude?” What exactly is “attitude of gratitude?” It is simply making it a good habit of being grateful in all (or whatever you want to focus on) aspects of your life. I recommend trying it with your kids or as a family so you can all see the benefits.

It may seem tedious at first; but try an attitude of gratitude daily (same as brushing your teeth), and you will feel, see or notice a difference… a warm and fuzzy feeling towards life, other beings, and or the world (your world or the big world). You just might feel and be happy by starting your day being grateful from the start to the mid-day and finally when heading to bed. Could this be the cure for finding your own happiness? If you can have an open mind, then try it and let us know what happens.

Here are some simple ways to have an attitude of gratitude:

  1. When you wake up start by saying “Thank you,” to God, Universe, whomever you believe or not. Being thankful that you woke up, got to breathe, and get to have a great day!
  2. If you don’t already have a journal, get one and each day write 1-5 things you are grateful for at your own leisure. This is a great way to realize how truly you are blessed. Challenge yourself to write more each day… and it is ok to repeat a lot of the same stuff. I am so happy and grateful for _________ (fill in the blank).
  3. It does not have to be big things only… being grateful for every little thing (as those small things will become big). For example, “I’m grateful that I get to go to “yoga wall,” class today (as I missed it few days ago).
  4. I am thankful that I can walk, talk, see, smell, and smile.
  5. How about being thankful for your loved ones? I am so happy and grateful for my sweet Cavapoo puppy, my boys, my husband, my parents, siblings, friends, co-workers, neighbors, etc.
  6. Thankful for what we have, or want to have, or the opportunities, etc. I am so grateful that I get to work with clients who are so happy with my work that they have given me referrals.
  7. How about thankful for the different services you get to enjoy? I am grateful for my UPS serviceman/woman for bringing me all my packages, my grocery delivery option, and my postal serviceman/woman.
  8. How about the weather? I am so happy that it is a sunny day for a nice walk, or it is raining, and my grass and plants get watered, etc.
  9. How about your health and wellness? I am so thankful for the nutritious food I get to enjoy and stay healthy.
  10. Before heading to bed, being thankful for the day, the lessons learned, the experiences, the time spent and having a bed to rest.

The list can go on and on to help you have an attitude of gratitude. Keep it simple and you will feel better, you will find yourself being kinder to yourself and others. When you do this as a family, you will find your kids reminding you to look on the bright side. Besides feeling great, you will have a newfound love for the world you live in and the people, beings, that surround you. I am so grateful that you took the time to read this and may you continue to enjoy many blessings each day.
