Halloween is right around the corner, and what better way to get into the spooky spirit than creating an adorable Halloween ghost craft? Whether you want to add a charming touch to your home décor, tackle a fun and budget-friendly craft, or enjoy creative bonding time with your kiddos, this DIY project is perfect for the occasion! With just a few simple materials and lots of imagination, you’ll create a cute, not-so-spooky ghost that will bring smiles and festive vibes to your Halloween celebrations. Let’s get started!
Halloween Ghost Craft Supplies:
- Cardboard or watercolor paper
- LuluMake’s Ghost Template
- Pencil
- Precision knife or scissors
- Acrylic paint
- Sponge
- Acrylic markers or Sharpie
- Sharp pencil or screw driver
- Flowers (real or artificial flowers)
Step 1:
Print and cut out Lulumake’s ghost template, trace it onto your cardboard, and carefully cut it out again! 
Step 2:
Use a piece of cardboard for the acrylic paints as your palette. I like to mix white into the paint when working on cardboard to boost its opacity. For this project, I’m going with a lovely mint color to give our ghost a soft, vibrant look! But blue or plain white would also look fantastic—feel free to experiment and have fun with different colors.
Step 3:
This is my favorite part! While we usually rely on paintbrushes, and you certainly can use them this time too. But I challenge you to try something different—use a clean kitchen sponge! Cut a long strip from the sponge, dip it into your paint, and start “painting” by stamping all over the ghost. The texture the sponge leaves behind is fantastic design and gives the ghost a unique, playful look!
Step 4:
Once the ghost is fully covered in paint and has dried, grab your acrylic markers or Sharpie to design a cute face! While ghosts typically have big, oval eyes, feel free to get creative and make it your own. I decided to give mine an adorable expression with rosy cheeks! Let your imagination run wild and create a ghost that’s uniquely yours!
Step 5:
Use a sharp object, such as a screwdriver or a sharp pencil, to create 5-6 holes where you’ll insert the flowers. If you’re doing this craft with your child, handle this step yourself for safety. You can invite them to count the number of holes you make—it’s a great way to keep them engaged and involved in the process!
Step 6
For long-lasting Halloween decorations, consider using artificial flowers! If you decide to use real flowers, just trim the stems and insert one flower at a time into the holes. This activity is excellent for helping your child practice fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and patience. If you are using artificial flowers, you can also use hot glue to secure the flowers in place. Have fun creating your festive ghost!
