The Best Giant Fancy Milkshake Places

Summer is coming and that means so is ice cream and milkshake season!

Have you seen the Instagram-worthy, huge, fancy milkshakes around the DC area? We have, too. And if your kids have been begging you for one (you’ll definitely want to get one to share!), we’ve rounded up where to find them!

1. Ted’s Bulletin

Ted’s has non-alcoholic shakes for kids, and alcoholic shakes for parents, as well. All of the have a healthy amount of whipped cream, and something a little extra (an Oreo, a scone, etc).

2. Good Stuff Eatery

Good Stuff shakes aren’t all gargantuant, but they are fancy – and good! With their elaborate flavors (toasted marshmallow, Milky Way malt, soursop hop strawberry), find whipped cream and an accompanying sweet at the top of the shake (a toasted marshmallow, a strawberry, etc).

3. The Yard

The Yard Milkshake Bar appeared on Shark Tank and didn’t secure funding, but did get a major boost in promoting its Instagram-worthy milkshakes. Both DMV franchises have monthly special milkshakes celebrating that month’s holidays or the season as well as popular customer favorites like Cookie Monster and Birthday Cake, and they also sell edible cookie dough in its signature mason jars.

4. Carnegie Diner

Carnegie Diner’s first DC-area store has several specialty milkshakes on its menu, along with breakfast all day and signature desserts and pies. They have a great patio for sharing a milkshake on during the summer, too!

5. Crazy Mason

Another place with over-the-top milkshakes in mason jars is Crazy Mason in Alexandria. Choose one of their unique flavors like Butter My Waffle, Salty But Sweet and You Gotta Be Puddin’ Me.

6. Big Buns

Their signature Unicorn strawberry milkshake comes in a frosting and sprinkles covered glass with sprinkles-covered marshmallows, sour punch straws and a take-home unicorn flootie. Try their other over-the-top creations too, like their Redonkulous Reese’s, which has Reese’s pieces in a peanut butter-covered jar.
