In my youth, I eschewed sunscreen and slathered baby oil – yes, baby oil – over my skin in efforts to tan deeply. When I reached age 30, I decided that it was time to actually wear sunscreen. Now that I’m closer to 40 than 30, and 8+ years of motherhood have taken a toll on my body, I’ve found facial skincare to be a soothing routine. I don’t wear makeup beyond mascara, and I definitely don’t have a 15-step skincare regimen. I’ve never been one to splurge on makeup or beauty products. However, I’ve found a few budget-friendly buys that have become staples for me to use. Best part? These favorite facial products are all just a click away on Amazon.

Rosewater Spray
Twenty thousand reviews can’t be wrong! A bottle of this rosewater spray lasts forever and provides a welcome, soothing spritz (for your face, hair, even your whole body!). Rosewater has great soothing properties, and glycerin is a natural moisturizer. In the winter it’s hydrating for my always-feeling-overdried skin, and in the summer a spray helps me feel refreshed. The rosewater scent is extremely mild (I have super sensitive skin and can’t use most perfumed products). Try this – your face will thank you!
Gold Eye Treatment Masks
Once a week, I treat my under eyes to one of these gold eye treatment masks. My under-eye situation is always in need of some help. I blame it on countless sleepless nights over the years raising 3 kids! I was tempted to try these eye masks after seeing people on social media (consider me influenced) and figured it would be a worth a try. After the first go, I was hooked. These are filled with collagen, hyaluronic acid, and grape seed extract. I always feel extra fancy with these (they are gold and shiny, hello!) and feel immediate smoothing and tightening after use.
Jade or Rose Quartz Roller
Ok, so maybe this is something that doesn’t actually have lasting effects but it sure is relaxing! My rose quartz roller is such a hit that I bought my own daughters their own for Christmas. Rolling our faces before bedtime has become an enjoyable part of our routines. This is one of my favorite facial products for several reasons. First of all, it is so calming to use. It may not erase wrinkles or fine lines, but it sure does feel good to give your face a little massage. Second, it has unlimited usages! One roller can last a lifetime. Third, it is truly affordable. There are so many options at various price points.
Facial Cleansing Brush
Last year, I decided I needed a little something extra for washing my face. I didn’t want to go crazy overboard with a mega-expensive product, but wanted something with reliably positive reviews and feedback. After a lot of research, I settled on this silicone facial cleansing brush by CloudFactory. At only $32, it’s a relatively small investment. One bonus is that it is re-chargable with a USB cord – no wasting batteries! I love this brush, and the fact that it has several different settings is also a plus. Easy to use, easy to clean, easy to love!
Jelly Cleanser
The sidekick to my facial cleansing brush is this awesome jelly cleanser by Bliss. I had been spending a lot more t use a very similar product by a different makeup company when I discovered that this cleanser by Bliss was an excellent dupe. Paired with my facial brush, this helps my skin feel super soft each evening before hitting the pillow.
The Ordinary – Lactic Acid
The Ordinary has a kind of cult following in the skincare world. I reply on tips from a good friend who is basically obsessed with knowing everything there is to know about products, and she is a strong devotee of The Ordinary’s products. I’ve been using their lactic acid for a while now and it’s a wonderful twice-a-week addition to my skincare. This acid helps to exfoliate and brighten skin. It is strong, so test it out first and work up your usage.
Facial Lotion with SPF
By now we all know that SPF, no matter the season, is necessary. But who wants to smell like a beach when all bundled up in January? After trying a few brands, I’ve become of devotee of CeraVe’s AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 30. It’s light, does not leave a white cast on your face, and doesn’t have a fake tropical scent. Perfect for everyday wear to give your face that extra layer of protection!
