If you’re looking for a fun walkthrough light show experience, check out the Winter Lantern Festival at the Lerner Town Square in Tysons. The show runs through February 12th. Created by Kaleido Arts & Entertainment Group, the Winter Lantern Festival has thousands of LED Chinese-inspired artisan lanterns, along with live performances and on-site food vendors.

Families will enjoy the dazzling world of light with Chinese lanterns all handmade by artisans with decades of experience. Guests will wander through a wonderland of light that includes Chinese myths, legends, and zodiacs. In addition, they will view handmade lanterns encompassing a world of ice, including displays of mammoths, polar bears, and penguins. There will also be interactive light swings, see-saws, and tunnels. This may be the kids favorite part! Plus, there are plenty of photo opportunities.

Lantern festivals have been a part of Chinese culture and history for thousands of years, honoring our ancestors and celebrating peace, prosperity, and good fortune,” said Haokun Liu, Partner of Kaleido Arts & Entertainment Group. “We are thrilled to debut the Winter Lantern Festival, expand to new locations, introduce all visitors to the beauty of these artisan installations, and have the show become part of the DMV’s cultural holiday tradition.”

The lanterns are illuminated by LED lights that can reach up to 30 feet high across 60 acres.

Located in the Lerner Town Square at 8025 Galleria Drive, Tysons, VA 22102.  Access the event at metro stop Silver Line Chainbridge Road and parking located at the Tysons II Lerner location.
