As a mom, fitting in a workout can feel nearly impossible with an already overflowing to-do list. Between parenting, work, cleaning, meals, etc., exercise often falls to the bottom of the list. But it should be at the top of each of our list! Prioritizing mom’s health helps not only her, but her entire family!

With my busy life, I kept feeling disappointed that I didn’t get to the gym as often as I’d like. So I looked into home workout equipment, specifically the YESOUL rowing machine. Rowing is efficient, low-impact, and realistic for real life—and Yesoul makes it especially mom-friendly.

I am now obsessed with my rower and want to share five reasons to get a rowing machine. And a bonus reason to choose Yesoul fitness equipment if you’re short on time and have lots of responsibilities.

1. Rowing Offers a Full-Body Workout in Less Time

One of the biggest reasons rowing machines are so popular is that they offer a true full-body workout. Every rowing stroke engages your legs, glutes, core, back, shoulders, and arms—all at once. We all know moms are strapped for time, so multitasking is essential!

Rowing combines both cardio and weight training which is something we all need. Moms (and dads!) can get an effective workout in 20–30 minutes, which is often all the time we actually have.

My Yesoul rowing machine is smooth, has consistent resistance, and helps me maintain proper form. I can sneak in a 20 minute rowing session and feel so much more energized afterwards!

2. Rowing Is Low-Impact and Joint-Friendly

Do you have joint pain or managing postpartum recovery? Rowing helps build strength, stamina, and is friendly to joints since it is low impact. As we know, running or high-impact workouts aren’t always the best option postpartum which make rowing the winner!

This low-impact exercise is gentle on knees, elbows, hips, and ankles. While it is gentle, rowing still provides an intense cardio session and muscle building challenge. We control the pace and resistance, which is easy to adjust based on how your body feels that day. Plus there is a handy screen to help inspire rowers to maximize their workout.

The Yesoul rower is powerful, but quiet! That means it is perfect for early morning, nap-time, or late evening workouts. I love that we can move our body without waking up the whole house.

3. The Yesoul Rowing Machine Fits into Real Homes

Most of us do not have a dedicated home gym (me included!) so their foldable design wins again. The Yesoul rowing machine is sleek with a space-conscious design that doesn’t dominate a living room or basement. Plus, it stores very easily when not in use. We want our workout equipment to work with our home and lives, not against it!

As a bonus, rowing doesn’t require special shoes (sometimes I do it barefoot!) or have a complicated setup or long warmups. I simply hop on, put on a music and a timer, and row. Afterwards, I always feel really good since I purposefully carved out time to care for my body so I can care for people in my family better!

4. Rowing = Stress Relief

Motherhood is physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding. As moms, we constantly have to check in with ourselves, self-regulate, so we can pour out to others from a full cup. An added benefit of rowing workouts is how rhythmic and calming they are.

I get into a grove with repetitive motion, pursue steady breathing, and try to make sure my body is fully engaged. Getting stress out through movement is vital and rowing offers a much needed stress reliever. My mind quiets down as I focus on the movements, music, and my handy timer! I sometimes even close my eyes just to feel the movements (and forget the laundry staring at me!).

My current cardio with my rower (but do what works best for you!):  I warm up by rebounding for 10 minutes, then repeat this four times on the YESOUL Rower: row for 4 minutes as hard and fast as I can, then do a calm row for 4 minutes, and repeat this three more times. This is called the Norwegian 4×4 and it’s great for cardio! Sometimes I only get through two rounds and that is ok too. Baby steps matter.

Additionally, YESOUL has a rotating screen and the free screen casting function that allows users to cast workouts from platforms like YouTube or Zwift. While the YESOUL app is great, there is no mandatory subscription in order to enjoy the casting feature. Yesoul does offer guided workouts and digital features on the screen which is incredible! Staying committed and consistent with a doable workout that we don’t have to overthink is priceless.

5. Yesoul Fitness is a Great Brand for Busy Moms

Yesoul exercise equipment is designed for real life. Not only do they have a great rowing machine, but they have quality walking pads, stationary bikes, and more!

Yesoul creates approachable, modern fitness equipment that doesn’t feel intimidating. We  don’t need to be an athlete—or even “in shape”—to start. We simply show up and put in the work! The workouts are flexible, encouraging, and easy to follow.

As a busy mom, that matters! I appreciate that instead of overwhelming, it feels doable and almost easy. Yes, I can take about 20-30 minutes for myself to be healthier! When we are consistent, we get the results we desperately want and need. I am so thankful for my very own Yesoul rowing machine!

Courtney Whittington
Courtney was born and raised in Louisiana where she met her husband (married in 2005). They have moved several times, but finally feel very settled in NW DC after moving back in 2016. She has four energetic kids: Cormac (2010), Evangeline (2013), Solomon (2016), and Antoinette (2019). She thinks motherhood is absolutely wonderful, but is constantly trying to figure out how to manage it all. She spends her days talking Star Wars, playing with legos, doing crafts, having tea parties, and chasing her toddler. Motherhood is wonderful and wild and in 2017 she banded together with other mothers to start DC Area Moms to inspire, learn, and grow together. She loves morning coffee, chocolate, chatting with people since she's an extrovert, a clean house (which is rare these days). She dislikes when her kids don't listen the first time, she abhors littering, and doesn't enjoy shopping.
