Meet Hope Law: A Single Mom and Adrenal Cancer Survivor on a Mission

0

Hope Law, a single mother of three, has faced challenges that most of us can’t even imagine. Two years ago, she was diagnosed with adrenal cortical cancer (ACC), a rare and aggressive disease that affects only one in a million people. But instead of letting her diagnosis define her, Hope turned her fight into a mission. Now a two-year cancer survivor, she’s using her voice and experience to raise awareness and funds for ACC research.

Hope Law: Adrenal Cancer Survivor

After months of unexplained symptoms and a misdiagnosis of lupus, Hope Law received her life-changing Adrenal Cancer diagnosis just after canceling a birthday trip for her three sons. What was supposed to be a fun family vacation quickly turned into days in the hospital. She missed her boys’ birthdays that year but vowed to never miss another one. That determination is now driving her work to help others fighting the same disease.

Adrenal Cure Collective Non-Profit

Hope has launched a nonprofit called Adrenal Cure Collective, with an ambitious goal: to raise $1 million for ACC research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). “The ask is simple,” Hope says. “We need 1,000,000 people to donate $1. That’s it—just four quarters. Together, we can fund life-saving research.”

Adrenal Cancer is incredibly rare, and because of that, research funding is critically low. Hope wants to change that. Her organization is partnering with the NIH and working closely with Dr. Del Rivero, a leading ACC researcher. She’s also gained the support of Esteve, a pharmaceutical company that produces the only chemotherapy drug available for ACC patients. This partnership marks a huge step forward in her mission to provide hope and options for those battling this disease.

Hope Law: Adrenal Cancer Survivor

Hope Law’s story isn’t just one of survival, it’s one of advocacy, strength, and resilience. Her nonprofit brings together Adrenal Cancer patients, caregivers, and supporters in a united fight for better treatments and, one day, a cure.

“I want to be a reflection of hope and strength for every ACC patient,” says Hope. “We’re not just raising awareness, we’re mobilizing action. I’ll spend the rest of my life fighting for every ACC patient—past, present, and future.”

Courtney Whittington
Courtney was born and raised in Louisiana where she met her husband (married in 2005). They have moved several times, but finally feel very settled in NW DC after moving back in 2016. She has four energetic kids: Cormac (2010), Evangeline (2013), Solomon (2016), and Antoinette (2019). She thinks motherhood is absolutely wonderful, but is constantly trying to figure out how to manage it all. She spends her days talking Star Wars, playing with legos, doing crafts, having tea parties, and chasing her toddler. Motherhood is wonderful and wild and in 2017 she banded together with other mothers to start DC Area Moms to inspire, learn, and grow together. She loves morning coffee, chocolate, chatting with people since she's an extrovert, a clean house (which is rare these days). She dislikes when her kids don't listen the first time, she abhors littering, and doesn't enjoy shopping.
