If you’re looking for a unique activity, make these Grinch inspired cupcakes for holiday movie night or a holiday party! These are fun and delicious to create with (or without) kids.

Grinch Inspired Cupcakes Items Needed

  • Cupcake Mix
  • Green Food Coloring
  • Aluminum Foil (in balls)
  • Cupcake Liners
  • Icing, Sprinkles or Desired Topping

The Cupcake Making and Decorating Process

First, gather your ingredients and baking crew. My three-year-old daughter and two-year-old son were excited to create bright, green cupcakes with heart-shaped sprinkles. We lined the cupcake pan and combined all of the ingredients in the mixing bowl.

Once the ingredients are well combined and your mixture is Grinch green, fill each cupcake liner about halfway.  Place the small balls of aluminum foil on the outside of each cupcake liner to create the Grinch-shaped face for the cupcake.

Next, add heart-shaped or desired sprinkles and bake. Our cupcakes baked at 350 degrees for about fifteen minutes. Once they’re ready, decorate as desired. We used green frosting and holiday-themed sprinkles!

Now, you can watch the Grinch (or another holiday favorite) and enjoy these inspired cupcakes with your family!

Baking Notes and Tips

  • To achieve the Grinch color, use 9 drops of blue food coloring and 29 drops of yellow food coloring (if you don’t already have lime green food coloring or frosting).
  • You can use box cake mix or start from scratch!
  • Do not hold your Grinch cupcake next to the Grinch on the screen for comparison unless you are prepared for your family’s jokes.

Enjoy these Grinch inspired cupcakes for a fun holiday movie night or party!
