Meet our April Mom of the Month: Samantha Breslin

Samantha is a seasoned government affairs professional. She thrives at the intersection
of policy, innovation, and collaboration. Samantha has more than a decade of experience in
legislative operations and political strategy. She works to shape policies that
support research, technological advancement, and long-term economic growth.

Since joining InterDigital in 2017, Samantha has played a key role in government
relations and regulatory affairs. Advocating for pro-innovation policies that protect and
promote cutting-edge technologies. She also serves as the Next G Alliance Vice Chair
of the Policy Committee. On this committee, she helps guide policy discussions focused on
advancing U.S. leadership in 6G and future wireless technologies. In this role, she
works with industry, government, and academic stakeholders to help ensure the policy
environment supports continued investment, research, and global competitiveness in
next-generation wireless.

Samantha’s career began on Capitol Hill in 2010, where she gained firsthand
experience navigating the legislative process. She held key roles in congressional
offices, supporting senior policymakers through strategic advising, scheduling, and
political engagement experiences that strengthened her ability to build relationships,
anticipate challenges, and drive meaningful policy conversations.

Beyond her professional work, Samantha is deeply committed to mentoring and
empowering women in technology and public policy. She serves on the advisory
committee for the Global Women’s Innovation Network (GlobalWIN) and actively
supports young women as they navigate their careers.

Outside of work, Samantha enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, Ross,
and their son.

Here is our Q&A with Samantha Breslin

1.What drew you to tech policy and lobbying, and what keeps you passionate about the work?

I came to tech policy and lobbying by saying yes to an unexpected opportunity. While
working on Capitol Hill, my current boss offered me a role at InterDigital that came with
a clear path to becoming a lobbyist if I proved myself. That trust and room to grow drew
me in and ultimately shaped my career.

What keeps me passionate is the mission and the people. InterDigital is a small, publicly
traded company with more than 50 years in research developing advanced wireless,
video and AI technologies. Each day, I educate policymakers on the groundbreaking
work of our engineers and help protect the company from policies that could stifle
innovation. We consistently punch above weight, and I thrive on that challenge. Just as
important, our size fosters close collaboration and a supportive culture, making the work
both meaningful and enjoyable.

2. What’s something motherhood has taught you that helps you professionally?

Motherhood has taught me to be intentional with my time and clear about my priorities.
You can’t create more hours in the day, so I’ve learned how to work efficiently while still
being present for the moments that matter most, like bedtime with my son. It has also
reinforced the importance of partnership. Having a supportive husband who does so
much to help make it possible for me to succeed professionally has shown me that
balance isn’t about doing everything alone, but about working together and supporting
one another.

3. How do you manage screen time or digital literacy at home given your work in tech?

Because I work in tech, I’m very aware that technology isn’t going anywhere and that
digital literacy will be important for my son as he grows. At this stage, though, we’re
intentional about limiting screen time and saving it for specific situations like travel or
long doctor’s visits. As a two-year-old, we want him to spend most of his time using his
imagination and developing foundational skills like communication, curiosity, and
interacting with others. We see technology as a tool he’ll grow into overtime, not
something that needs to rush his early development.

4. What’s something about you that people wouldn’t guess from your professional title?

One thing people might not guess from my professional title is that I’m a first-generation
college graduate. While my parents didn’t have college degrees, they emphasized the
value of education and a strong work ethic, which shaped how I approach my career.
That experience has made mentorship especially important to me. I’m passionate about
supporting and mentoring young women helping them build confidence, navigate
professional spaces, and show up as their best selves, regardless of their upbringing or
background. I believe access to guidance and encouragement can be just as impactful
as opportunity itself.
