11 Daily Simple Pleasures For You And Your Kids

What is a simple pleasure?

Simple pleasures! They are the spice of life. Everyone may have a slightly different way of defining a simple pleasure. Before we dive into the list of simple pleasures, let’s start with a definition:

“In general, simple pleasures can be defined as experiences that are positive, brief, and usually emerge in everyday settings. Furthermore, they are usually accessible to people at little to no cost. Often, simple pleasures are incredibly personal. As a result, simple pleasures for one person may not be the same as simple pleasures for someone else.”

I encourage you to create and enjoy the simple pleasures that bring you joy throughout your day. Begin by getting curious with yourself and your kids.

First, ask yourself and your kids one or all of these questions:

  • Where do you find joy?
  • What do you LOVE to do?
  • What do you wish we could do more of?
  • If we could only do one thing today, what would you like it to be?

Second, give yourself permission to have your joy!

Third, allow your children to have their joy as well.

Life is full! I stayed away from the word “busy” because that conjures up a whole lot of overwhelm and maybe even a bit of anxiety. It is important to our health and well-being to take a step back and consider what moments are making up our full life.

  • Do these moments spark our energy?
  • Do they fill us with joy or dread?
  • Do they uplift us or drain us?

We get to choose where we place our focus and attention. Why not place our focus and attention on enjoying simple pleasures throughout our day? Consider what it would look like to prioritize engaging in at least one simple pleasure each day.
